NUVARING, a contraceptive is prescribed to prevent pregnancy. What should I know about NUVARING?
If you are a pregnant female, you should not use NUVARING, as it can cause teratogenic effects in the unborn foetus.
Your Physician will tell you the methods of NUVARING use and you should follow exactly as prescribed.
You must keep NUVARING in place for a period of full 3 weeks.
You can remove NUVARING after 3 weeks. But it should be replaced with a new NUVARING after a week later.
You should not remove NUVARING at the time of intercourse, unless it causes bothersome effects. If it happens, you can remove NUVARING and it should be reinserted after the intercourse. Make sure to rinse with warm water before reinsert NUVARING.
Try to do self examination of breast and once in a month clinical visit for the breast check up, while using NUVARING.
What happens if I miss a dose of NUVARING?
During week 1 or 2 of wearing time: In this period, you should not remove NUVARING unnecessarily. If NUVARING comes out accidentally, you must push NUVARING inside. If NUVARING has been out for more than 3 hours, you should replace a new NUVARING.
During Week 3: Avoid leaving NUVARING outside the vagina. If it happens try to start a new cycle after the menstrual cycle. Until follow another birth controls method of your choice.
What happens if I overdose of NUVARING?
Rarely, overdose can occur with symptoms of abnormal vaginal bleeding, nausea and vomiting. In this case, try to seek emergency medical attention immediately.
