VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) is an anti-bacterial intra-vaginal gel prescribed for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis in the non-pregnant women. VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) is a nitro-imidazole group of drugs that contains potent anti-microbial property. VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) should be used as a short-term therapy.
Who should not take VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel)?
VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) should not be prescribed for the patients with Steven-Johnson syndrome, eczema, fever with sepsis, flu like symptoms, disulfiram allergy and abnormal mood swings. If you are using tobacco, tobacco products or alcohol, you should not use VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel). If you are known allergic to any type of imidazole group of drugs, you should not take the VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel). There is no evidence of teratogenic effects of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel), as it classified by the Food and Drug Administration as a Pregnancy Category – B drug. If you are a pregnant woman or lactating mother, you should consult your doctor before using VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel). Some of the drugs will cross-react with VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) including lithium, disulfiram, cimetidine and anti-coagulants. You must avoid these medicines, while you are taking VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel).

VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) can cause anorexia, GI disturbances, urticaria like skin rashes, depression, lack of sleep, jaundice like symptoms, back pain, mucous membrane disorders, increased sweating, lactation in women, increased urination, breast engorgement, uro-genital problems, abnormal ECG findings, decrease in platelet count, coloured urine, abdominal cramping, increased fungal infection episodes, nausea or vomiting, constipation, ear infections with ringing, vision changes, general fatigue and arthritic reactions. Most of the side-effects of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) may vary from person to person.
How should I take VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel)?
The recommended adult dosage of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) is one, whole/full (5gms) applicator of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel), intra-vaginally, once daily. This should be continued for 5 days. The dosage will be 37.5 mg of Metronidazole. The following instruction should be followed to take the VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel): (1) Apply a thin layer of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) on the skin and just rub gently. 2) Do not cover the application site with bandage unless directed by Physicians 3) Do not use cosmetics or other skin care applications on the site of the VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) treatment. 4) If there is no visible benefit after the application of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) more than 2 weeks, contact your Doctor immediately. 5) Wash your hands before and after the use of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) with soap water. Keep applying VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) for as long as your health care provider tells you to do so. To treat your problems or keep you from getting these symptoms, you have to take VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) as often and in the way VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) as prescribed by your Physician.
What is the important information I should know about VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel)?
- Apply VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.
- It is important to apply VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) as prescribed to get the most benefit, as directed by the Physician.
- If VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) gets contacted in to the eye, wash with running water and seek medical help immediately.
- Do not keep or use the expired medicine and also when there is no need to use.
- Do not apply VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) in any other parts of the body, except intra-vaginally.
- VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) should be prescribed for a short-term treatment.
- Avoid alcohol consumption while you use VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel)
- If your symptoms getting worse even after VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) application, try to seek medical attention immediately.
- Do not stop using VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) without first talking to your doctor, even if you are feeling well. Even after your symptoms improve, you may require continuous treatment for quite some time, as directed by the Physician.
- Store VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) as per the instructions on the label.
- The dosage of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) application may vary from person to person hence, it should not be self-medicated.
- Wash your hands properly before and after using the VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel).
- Keep VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) away from the reach of the children and pets.
What happens if I miss a dose of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel)?
Take the missed application dose of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) as soon as you remember, during the same day. If you do not remember until the next day, skip the missed dose and apply VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) next day as routine dose. Do not take a double dose of application.
What happens if I overdose of VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel)?
No adverse events are reported with VANDAZOLE (Metronidazole Vaginal Gel) overdose. If you experience any abnormal symptoms, try to seek emergency medical attention immediately.
